FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1.What can I encode in a QR code?
Almost anything: website URLs, plain text, email addresses (mailto:), phone numbers (tel:), and WiFi network credentials. Phones can scan a WiFi QR code to connect automatically — no typing required.
Q2.What is error correction and what level should I use?
Error correction lets a QR code be scanned even if part of it is damaged or obscured. L (7%) is smallest/fastest. M (15%) is the standard default. Q (25%) is good for printed codes. H (30%) is best if you plan to add a logo or print on a surface that might get dirty.
Q3.Can I use gradient QR codes for printing?
Yes. Download the SVG version for print — SVG is resolution-independent so it looks sharp at any size. For digital use (email, websites), PNG is ideal. Use error correction level Q or H for printed codes to handle minor wear and tear.
Q4.Why do some dot styles look harder to scan?
Highly stylized dots (like Classy or Extra Rounded) reduce the visual contrast between modules, which can challenge older or lower-quality scanners. If scannability is critical, use Square or Dots style with high contrast colors and error correction level Q or H.
Q5.Are QR codes generated here stored anywhere?
No. All QR code generation runs entirely in your browser using the qr-code-styling library. Nothing you type is sent to any server. The page works offline once loaded.
Q6.How do I make a WiFi QR code?
Switch the input mode to WiFi, enter your network name (SSID), password, and security type. The QR encodes in the standard WIFI: format recognized by all modern phones. iOS 11+ and Android 10+ can scan it natively with the camera app.
